[노래]Black eyed peas - Where is the love?

블랙 아이드 피 는 한국에서는 동부콩, 광저기의 일종으로 검색되는데, 일반적인 콩 모양에 검은색의 반점이 있기 때문에 블랙 아이드 피라고 부른다. 미국에서 새해 첫날에 행운을 가져온다고 믿고 호핑 존이라는 볶음 요리로 먹는다.

 

프라이드 치킨과 함께 블랙 아이드 피가 들어가는 요리는 흑인 요리(소울푸드)중 하나로, The BEP(Black Eyed Peas) 자신들도 Soul 음악을 추구한다는 뜻에서 붙인 그룹명이다(from 나무위키).

 

뭐 그룹명에 이런 심오한 뜻이 있다고 한다. 학창 시절에 가사의 정확한 의미도 모른 체 흥얼거릴 만큼 흥겨운 노래였는데, 유튜브 알고리즘으로 다시 들으면서 가사에 집중하니 요즘 세상에 절묘하게 맞아 들어가는 부분이 있어서 신기했다.

 

거의 20년 전에 나온 노래인데, 더 편리해졌을지언정 특별히 달라진건 없나 보다.

 

노래 'Where is the Love'에는 Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx , Ty Dolla $ign, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Cassie, Andra Day, The Game, Tori Kelly, V. Bozeman, Jessie J, French Montana, DJ Khaled , Usher , Nicole Scherzinger, A$AP Rocky , Jaden Smith 및 40명의 어린이 합창단이 나온다. 스케일 이 쪼금 크다.

 

사실 노래를 들으면서 기분이 센치해졌던 영상은 뮤직비디오가 아닌데, 아리아나 그란데가 '원러브 맨체스터'라는 폭탄테러 희생자들을 추모하기 위한 자선 콘서트에서 부른 영상이 좀 감동적이었다.

 

정말 여러모로 시대를 관통하는 신랄한 내용이 인상적이다. 그 와중에 노래 잘하네..
